About
Warbirds over Hurlock 2008 is a fun event in its third year. It is sponsored by the Eastern Shore Aeromodelers Club. The event started as strictly an in-house fun fly for members with aircraft associated with the military After a great first and second year, we have decided to expand to a 2 day format and increase participation by actively soliciting other clubs to come and enjoy our great new field and wonderful Eastern Shore hospitality. We have been given tremendous support by our local hobby dealers and many R/C manufacturers. This will be a fun and fabulous weekend.
First off, there will be a raffle which will feature an aircraft from each of our supporting local hobby shops. Hobbytown in Easton, MD has donated a Spitfire with many included accessories and Hobby Stop of Seaford, DE a Fokker DR 1, 48” E powered plane ready for your receiver and battery. We have contributions from Horizon, Tower Hobbies, Ziroli Plans, Sig Manufacturing, RC Reports magazine, Master Airscrew, Balsa USA, Precision Cut Kits, Eagle Tree Systems, Sullivan and Van’s Plans. These will be used as prizes and raffle items. We express our THANKS to all of them.
You will not find a much nicer flying field anywhere. We have a 600 x 250 foot grass runway. There’s not a tree or obstacle within more than a half mile---well there are trees behind us but you are not supposed to fly there anyway. We have covered pits and lots of room for easy-ups and whatever you bring for your comfort. There is ample parking and we can accommodate RV’s for overnight but as yet we do not have power at the field.
Bring your warbirds! Electric or wet fueled we have both in the club. We are pretty lenient at present as to what is a warbird---hey they even used Piper Cubs. This is an event for having FUN!
